me
Dear visitor! Welcome to my website!
My name is Emma Kronvall and I live in Stockholm, Sweden. At this site I present some of my work. If you have any questions or want to know more about some pieces you have seen you are most welcome to e-mail me by clicking at the banner with my name on it at the left.My mostely motif and inspiration for my work is animals. The animals are often tiny and fragile or placed in peculiar situations where they must manage to get by by their own. I draw a lot; every day more or less, but the threedimensional kind of work has become my mainly way of working.
Many of my ideas is about wanting to do something good and helpful but for some reasons it turns out the wrong way. Kind of being a unneccecarily rescuer, or being to late with your helpful intentions. I am also very interested in history and often many of my works are inspired by shapes and forms from the 1700s and 1800s.
I work in different types of material and scales; all depending on the context. When I work with sculptures for gallery exhibitions I mostly model the tiny animals in porcelain and the figures are then often just 10-15 cm high. For public commissioned sculptures the figures are in a much larger scale. Then I model the original animals in styrofoam and after that they are casted in polyester plastic or concrete for example. This type of animals/sculptures most be made in very durable materials since they will be in public environments.
I like both working with exhibitions as well as public commissioned art, it suits me perfectly to alternate between this kind of works.
